Tonja Merz, Hanna Schuster und Sara Vetsch aus St. Gallen zeigen im Kulturbüro Materialexperimente mit Bioplastik. Die drei verbindet die Freude am experimentellen Gestalten und am Arbeiten mit den Händen. In diesem Projekt erforschen sie die gestalterischen Möglichkeiten unterschiedlicher Materialien. Dabei liegt das Interesse besonders darauf, wie aus einfachen Rohstoffen und vermeintlichen Resten etwas Neues entstehen kann.
Für die Arbeiten wurden unterschiedliche Rüstabfälle und natürliche Materialien verwendet: Randen erzeugen rote bis braune Farbtöne, Lauch sorgt für grüne Nuancen, Kaffee ergibt eine raue, braune Oberfläche. Kurkuma wird knallig gelb und Blaukohl verändert seine Farbe je nach pH-Wert. Die entstandenen Elemente wurden gegossen, zusammengenäht und in Holzrahmen eingespannt. Durch das Zusammenspiel von Licht, Farbe, Struktur und den Überlagerungen der Muster entsteht ein lebendiges Farbenspiel. Die Arbeiten verleihen dem Raum eine gemütliche, farbenfrohe und atmosphärische Stimmung.
Die Tafel bei der Kulturbüro Theke lädt die Besuchenden ein, das Material zu entdecken, zu ertasten und daran zu riechen. So kann unser lederartiges Material nicht nur betrachtet, sondern mit (fast) allen Sinnen erlebt werden. Bitte nicht essen!

Nathalie Berthod
Inframonde
Nathalie Berthod est une artiste multidisciplinaire française, née en 1976, installée en Suisse. Son travail se déploie à la croisée de la photographie et de l’écriture. Pendant plusieurs années, elle évolue sur scène en tant que jongleuse et comédienne, au sein de créations personnelles et collectives. En 2014, elle choisit de quitter le spectacle vivant pour se consacrer pleinement à la photographie et à l’écriture. Depuis plus de dix ans, elle expose régulièrement son travail photographique. En 2021, elle publie son premier recueil de poésie, «Parles-tu la langue», aux Éditions des Sables. Son premier roman, «L'Antimonde», est aujourd'hui achevé et est actuellement proposé à des maisons d'édition.
Son approche est intuitive et contemplative. La photographie n'est pas pour elle un outil de documentation du réel, mais un moyen de le déplacer, de le transformer et d'en révéler les zones d'incertitude. Son travail accorde une place centrale à la post-production, qu'elle envisage comme un espace de création où se construisent de nouveaux univers, à la frontière du réel et de l'imaginaire. Depuis 2024, elle développe une pratique autour de la photogravure et du chine collé, dans une volonté de renouer avec la matérialité de l'image. Le processus d'impression manuelle à l'encre et le collage prolongent sa recherche en réintroduisant le geste, la lenteur et la matière au cœur de son travail.

C’est un projet qui explore la transformation des images et des territoires. À partir de photographies réalisées dans des lieux abandonnés ou en marge du quotidien, Nathalie Berthod développe un processus de métamorphose mêlant photogravure, chine collé et rephotographie. Des fragments de cartes anciennes, de journaux, de planches botaniques ou anatomiques et de textes viennent enrichir l'image sans illustrer le lieu, mais en ouvrant de nouvelles lectures. Par ces passages successifs d'un médium à l'autre, les paysages se transforment en espaces mentaux où mémoire, géographie et imaginaire se rencontrent.

SKIES ist ein rauschender Fluss an Bildern und Klängen, ohne Anfang und ohne Ende. Die begehbare Videoinstallation nimmt die Besucher:innen mit auf eine Reise durch vertraute Umgebungen, die zu fernen Galaxien werden. Der 30-minütige Loop wird im Liegen betrachtet – inmitten einer Klangkomposition, die sich über sechzehn Kanäle zu einem dreidimensionalen akustischen Raum entfaltet.

Hello I am Eva Maria Espejo aka Eva Mirror, a Visual Artist and Designer based since 2014 in Switzerland. I am born in Barcelona and then lived in several places as Madrid, Sevilla, Brighton, Buenos Aires, Torino and Berlin, first started to study Sociology interested in art, cultures and ethnology but soon I saw the desire of creation by means of investigation.
My paintings and Illustration are mostly animals and portraits, I listened once that my works are a mix between Pop, Surrealism, Naive Art, Psychedelic, Magic realism and Avant-garde. As Digital Artist I am working since 2010 and as Graphic Design I made experience in Editorial, Magazines and Illustration. I’ve taught Art for Primary and Secondary school as complementary activity using personal tools for the creative own knowledge and development as therapy or simply as way to start learning arts.

In 2026, Kunstkiosk St. Gallen celebrates its 15th anniversary. It was founded in 2011 as part of a design class at Kantonsschule am Burggraben and continued as a self-organized collective. Since then, Kunstkiosk has presented numerous artists, organized exhibitions and events, and repeatedly found new locations and formats to make art accessible in St. Gallen.
The exhibition at the Kulturbüro offers a small glimpse into this 15-year history and builds anticipation for the major anniversary exhibition. On display are, among other things, a model of the former Kunstkiosk at Rorschacherstrasse, postcards, and a compilation of archival material. The exhibition shows how Kunstkiosk has evolved over the years while continually being carried forward and shaped by new people.
The major anniversary exhibition will open on September 12, 2026, as part of Museumsnacht St. Gallen, and will then be on display for one month.

Né en 1997, Marlo Karlen vit à Genève. Dans un petit appartement pas trop loin du lac, au-dessus d’un délicieux restau’, entre trois épiceries de nuit. Il étudie trois ans à l’Institut littéraire suisse où il obtient son Bachelor en 2023. Quand il écrit, il se sent bien. Et quand il se sent bien, il regarde la vie avec douceur. Comme un dimanche matin. Et des dimanches, il en vivrait tous les jours.
«Gustave» est le roman d’un départ. Avec son amoureuse Salomé, le narrateur prend la grande décision de quitter Genève pour Barcelone. L’occasion pour le narrateur de se séparer de son crocodile de compagnie, Gustave, qui le suit depuis l’adolescence. C’est un crocodile peureux, maladroit, qui ne supporte pas le monde dans le tram et le changement de température dans les magasins. Ensemble, ils aiment quand le soleil ramollit au-dessus du Rhône, quand le temps coule sans qu’on cherche à l’occuper, quand ils ne font rien d’autre que rêvasser.

Tonja Merz, Hanna Schuster und Sara Vetsch aus St. Gallen zeigen im Kulturbüro Materialexperimente mit Bioplastik. Die drei verbindet die Freude am experimentellen Gestalten und am Arbeiten mit den Händen. In diesem Projekt erforschen sie die gestalterischen Möglichkeiten unterschiedlicher Materialien. Dabei liegt das Interesse besonders darauf, wie aus einfachen Rohstoffen und vermeintlichen Resten etwas Neues entstehen kann.
Für die Arbeiten wurden unterschiedliche Rüstabfälle und natürliche Materialien verwendet: Randen erzeugen rote bis braune Farbtöne, Lauch sorgt für grüne Nuancen, Kaffee ergibt eine raue, braune Oberfläche. Kurkuma wird knallig gelb und Blaukohl verändert seine Farbe je nach pH-Wert. Die entstandenen Elemente wurden gegossen, zusammengenäht und in Holzrahmen eingespannt. Durch das Zusammenspiel von Licht, Farbe, Struktur und den Überlagerungen der Muster entsteht ein lebendiges Farbenspiel. Die Arbeiten verleihen dem Raum eine gemütliche, farbenfrohe und atmosphärische Stimmung.

I am born in Barcelona and then lived in several places as Madrid, Sevilla, Brighton, Buenos Aires, Torino and Berlin, first started to study Sociology interested in art, cultures and ethnology but soon I saw the desire of creation by means of investigation.
My paintings and Illustration are mostly animals and portraits, I listened once that my works are a mix between Pop, Surrealism, Naive Art, Psychedelic, Magic realism and Avant-garde. As Digital Artist I am working since 2010 and as Graphic Design I made experience in Editorial, Magazines and Illustration. I’ve taught Art for Primary and Secondary school as complementary activity using personal tools for the creative own knowledge and development as therapy or simply as way to start learning arts.

In 2026, Kunstkiosk St. Gallen celebrates its 15th anniversary. It was founded in 2011 as part of a design class at Kantonsschule am Burggraben and continued as a self-organized collective. Since then, Kunstkiosk has presented numerous artists, organized exhibitions and events, and repeatedly found new locations and formats to make art accessible in St. Gallen.
The exhibition at the Kulturbüro offers a small glimpse into this 15-year history and builds anticipation for the major anniversary exhibition. On display are, among other things, a model of the former Kunstkiosk at Rorschacherstrasse, postcards, and a compilation of archival material. The exhibition shows how Kunstkiosk has evolved over the years while continually being carried forward and shaped by new people.
The major anniversary exhibition will open on September 12, 2026, as part of Museumsnacht St. Gallen, and will then be on display for one month.

Né en 1997, Marlo Karlen vit à Genève. Dans un petit appartement pas trop loin du lac, au-dessus d’un délicieux restau’, entre trois épiceries de nuit. Il étudie trois ans à l’Institut littéraire suisse où il obtient son Bachelor en 2023. Quand il écrit, il se sent bien. Et quand il se sent bien, il regarde la vie avec douceur. Comme un dimanche matin. Et des dimanches, il en vivrait tous les jours.
«Gustave» est le roman d’un départ. Avec son amoureuse Salomé, le narrateur prend la grande décision de quitter Genève pour Barcelone. L’occasion pour le narrateur de se séparer de son crocodile de compagnie, Gustave, qui le suit depuis l’adolescence. C’est un crocodile peureux, maladroit, qui ne supporte pas le monde dans le tram et le changement de température dans les magasins. Ensemble, ils aiment quand le soleil ramollit au-dessus du Rhône, quand le temps coule sans qu’on cherche à l’occuper, quand ils ne font rien d’autre que rêvasser.
