Blender is a comprehensive freeware program that can be used to build and animate 3D models. This three-evening workshop will teach you the basics of the programme. It will also introduce you to useful online tutorials that you can use to refine and expand your animation skills.

The two-part Blender course is aimed at beginners and takes place over two evenings, each lasting 2.5 hours. The aim of the course is to provide a solid overview of Blender.

The first lesson provides a basic introduction to Blender with a focus on navigation, interface and general overview. This is followed by a look at the basics of modelling, with a focus on editing meshes using various tools. Building on this, participants learn the basics of materials and fundamental techniques for texturing and UV mapping.

The second lesson is devoted to the basics of animation. Keyframes are set, simple animations are created and the Graph Editor is introduced. Finally, participants are given an introduction to rendering, including basic render settings, so that they can output their scenes.
