VJ for Beginners Workshop

07.09.2026
16:00–20:00

Have you ever wondered how the live visuals you often see in clubs or at festivals are created? This workshop will give you the answer.

The workshop covers the basics and provides an understanding of the working methods and approaches used for a live visual performance in a physical space. It offers a hands-on introduction to preparing and staging live performances using Resolume Arena software. Simple video content will be created, which is compiled into a storyboard to form a narrative sequence. Participants will learn how to design, curate, and optimize visual content for live use. Key topics include content design, video and projection mapping, the targeted use of MIDI controllers, interaction with music, and the development of performative setups for immersive spaces. For it is in the fusion of real and virtual space—where auditory and visual elements converge—that spaces can be designed for shared experiences and communal engagement.

September 21, 2026: Opening reception; contributions will be displayed in the storefront windows

The event on September 7 is open to all genders; the event on September 21, 2026, is open only to FLINTA* individuals.

The workshops will take place as part of the Live Video Fest in Basel
